New Years/New Start Resolution #7 – Pray More/Get Closer to God

Oh, so it was you that ate my cookies.

First and foremost, Happy New Years Eve  everyone! Take this time to bring in 2011 with Peace, Prosperity and Joy!

One part of my life that has been growing steadily recently that I never want to be stagnant in is my spiritual life. I’ve always been around religious people. My great-grandfather was the pastor of Apostolic Church of God and Christ. I was practically raised in an A.M.E. church down the street. I always was there for basketball, Boy Scouts and summer camp. Life in the church was just regular life to me.

I didn’t get baptized until 2008 and since then, everyday has been a test and testament of my faith. Whether battles with depression, unemployment or identity, God has been the rock in my life. When all my friends abandoned me, when I didn’t know where food or rent was coming from, when I got into a car accident and lost my two jobs, God provided and protected me.

God brought my out of that darkness and exposed me to some of the best things in my life. I always had a roof over my head and when things went wrong, somehow everything worked out. I didn’t have the financial means for anything this year after coming off of a 6 month unemployment streak, but I had one of the best Christmas days I’ve had in the last decade. Now, I am going into the new year, returning to school, with great opportunities, friends and outlook on life. I am really excited to start a new season. God has been beyond kind to me.

So, this is my MOST important New Years/New Start Resolution. #7 Pray more and get closer to God.

I don’t think I am the best representative of the family of Christ. I don’t pray enough, it’s hard for me to read my bible and I can only take gospel music in small doses. Yet, I go to church, try to do the best I can daily and never lose faith in Him. It’s a slow process but, I think it is only right to say thanks and work on things like such.

As we bring in the new year, think about what you are thankful for this year and cherish it even more for next year. The thing I am most thankful for is God’s Love.

Be Safe and Happy New Year Dreamers,

I'm a little dreamer with big dreams that wants to be far from ordinary and go anywhere that's not familiar. The Lord is my guide as I attempt to improve, not just my own, but everyone's quality of life.
