Be Bold

Confidence, Self-Assurance, Poise, Assertiveness, Authority, Sureness and Boldness. All of these traits are 7 classic and common adjectives used to describe great leaders. Each one relatively builds up to mean one thing; the unwavering belief in self and the ability to hold on to that belief under any opposition and circumstances.

Boldness: not hesitating or fearful in the face of actual or possible danger or rebuff.

This is easily one of my most favorite words in relation to where I want to be. Even in the bible, it is said, “Go Boldly before the throne of the Lord!” Not including the use and constant reminder of not fearing, fear not, no spirit of fear, etc. Overall, hesitation makes a person look weak. That person is unsure of him or herself. That does not mean be overly rash and plunge into dangerous situations, it means you can be have fear but that should not stop you from moving forward.

Self-Assurance :confidence in the validity, value of one’s own ideas, opinions, etc.

This one usually comes hand and hand with the first word. Have confidence in what you feel is right.  Believe in yourself and stand upon your word without doubt. This one goes under constant fire when going against the status quo. Don’t let no one back you down if you truly believe.

Poise: a dignified, self-confident manner or bearing; composure; self-possession

Poise comes from the external reflection of your internal thoughts. The more you believe in yourself, what you think is right and move with confidence, the more you will ooze the dignity of royalty. Honestly, take a look at the Kings, Queens, and royal families of the world. They often literally believe that they were chosen by GOD to be who they are. I believe I was choose by God to be who I am, so why can’t I act like it?

Assertiveness: confident and direct in claiming one’s rights or putting forward one’s views

Not letting yourself, your rights, beliefs or ideas be ignored. If you want it, make sure it happens. Don’t take no for answer. Don’t allow yourself to be walked over by anyone else. This makes you the one person naysayers, opponents and yes-men hate the most. Why? Because you refuse to be buried, ignored or forgotten because you have something that matters and other people will feel the same.

Confidence: belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities

You can do it! From Superman to Underdog, from the little engine that could to that little kid on Barney struggling with building a house of cards. You have been given the skills and an opportunity to make something imaginary become a reality. Now all you have to do KNOW that you have.

Authority: the right to control, command, or determine.

From a biblical standpoint, humans have been given the right to submit the land, reign over all and speak things into existence. That is powerful. You have the ability and right to mold the things around you into what you want it to be. If you are doing what your heart truly desires and it requires doing something new, its okay to take charge. Things get done that way.

Sureness: the state of being free from doubt as to the reliability, character, action of something

This is what is left once you have intertwined all of the traits before this one.  You have looked inside and decided what you believed in. Now that you know what you believe in, you must have the self-assurance to know that what you think is right. You must be bold to speak your mind without fear of whatever happens. Assertive that your beliefs are not ignored by taking authority of whatever situations arise. Be confident that you are able to make a difference and remain poised because a moment of weakness can take away everyone’s sureness in who you are and what you stand for, which emanates  from you.

These are the traits of true leaders.
