I am thankful for today. I am thankful for the yesterdays that taught me lessons. I am thankful for tomorrows that will bring me wisdom. I am thankful for the people I don’t know yet. I am thankful for the loves that haven’t engrained their mark in my heart and the ones that did. I am thankful for the past and everything that shaped me into who I am today. I am thankful for my ancestors that paved my way.
I am thankful for the friends that keep me grounded and the friends I can cut loose with. I am thankful for my best friends that always seem to balance me out. I am thankful for my enemies because without them, I would not have motivation to be better. I am thankful for all of my teachers and mentors over the years that wouldn’t allow me to stay stagnant. I am thankful for all of my mentees that taught me patience and allowed me to watch them grow. I am thankful for God. I am thankful that He has continued to guide a foolish child like me through storms and clear skies. I am thankful for the spirit of God that lives inside of me and all of the power that comes with it. I am thankful for being alive.
I am thankful for my family that has taught me more about life than even they know. I am thankful for my grandmother Gwen that sacrificed her entire life to help me become a man. I am thankful for my mother for showing me growth isn’t only for the young. I am thankful for my Dad for teaching me knowledge is nothing if you don’t utilize it. I am thankful for all my adopted mothers that cared for me when I could barely care for myself. I am thankful for all the adopted fathers and big brothers that made me see that men/fathers are not perfect but are trying to make it in life just like me.
I am thankful for my fraternity brothers that showed me values and gave me room to grow up. I am thankful for my two lovely pledge daughters that humble me every time I see them and their love. I am thankful for my little brothers, the New Gods, in the midst of all their craziness, they still enabled me to remember how to open my heart to men and trust them to be there.
I am thankful for the opportunities that school has given me. I am thankful for the chances that have developed for me to better understand myself. I am thankful for the late nights stargazing and early mornings talking about life. I am thankful for the joy and the pain of life because without, I wouldn’t have anything to compare it to. I am thankful for music, writing, video games, sunlight, water, the moon at light, and the sun in the morning. I am thankful that God continues to bless me with all these things and more even though I don’t deserve them. I am thankful for all these things and more.
