Plan of Action: Views on Gospel

This week has been filled with a lot of revelations and great moments involving God. I shared a my blessings and perspectives about the man upstairs. Continuing my plan of action series from Education and Family. I’m sharing a great way to think about Religion and my personal plans to further grow with Him.

Keep in mind that I am not a theologian or a minister. I am ministering in my own way by sharing my path and perspectives with you all. My views will grow and mature as I develop, know that I am sharing what I view as the Gospel [Good News] not gospel (See what I did there).

the-Gospel

I believe we have lost the most basic lessons from the Bible. God told Israel a lot and we could read the same book over thousands of times and find something new each one. I find it ridiculous that we focus on the concepts that are mentioned only once but completely ignore the messages that were mentioned  a hundred times. How come we focus on masturbation or abortion more than stopping oppression and feeding the hungry? Not saying that those are not things to focus on at all, but in the grand scheme of things, taking care of the sick would be a higher priority.

I recently came upon an article talking about that evangelicals accepted beliefs of Pharisees more than the teachings of Christ (When not told who was who). [Source] I think it is very interesting looking at the hypocrisy in Religion and how cognitive dissonance can start from putting method (a checklist of how to live life right) over a message (loving others).

My plan of action is to focus more on Gospel than religion. I want to share and talk about it more. My Gospel is built on knowing the truths God spoke on numerous times in the bible and sharing them:

  1. You are loved because you exist, not because of what you do.
  2. The Lord is perfect, you’re not expected to be.
  3. God’s grace and mercy redeems us for our missteps.
  4. Intention means more than outcome to God.
  5. There are consequences for your actions regardless.
  6. Love God because He loves you even when you don’t love yourself.
  7. Love yourself and others better.
  8. Take time to focus on your blessings.
  9. Christianity is a relationship (treat it as such)
  10. God is spontaneous, mysterious, and does things His way.

Each one of these can have entire posts dedicated to them ( I will probably write in the future) but the message is, we are too hard on ourselves, others, and put too many restrictions on what “can” and “cannot” be done. Love is understanding and recognizing the flawed nature of humans and the world we set up. God loves us knowing that and it’s perfectly fine. He loves us, flaws and all. As long as we continuously want to show better love to ourselves, others, and Him. I feel like that is the best plan to go about.

What revelations do you have about God, Religion, and similar topics? What shaped your views that way? Any parts that specifically resonated with you? Any tenets of Gospel you’d like to add? Leave them in the comments below.

I'm a little dreamer with big dreams that wants to be far from ordinary and go anywhere that's not familiar. The Lord is my guide as I attempt to improve, not just my own, but everyone's quality of life.
