Today is a day of celebration for me! Even a day earlier than planned, I have reached my 100th post on Everything’s Magnificent since my restart in November! To celebrate, I just wanted to say thank you.
100 posts later, I want to say you mean the world to me. Initially, I started writing to escape from the pressures of graduate life. I wanted to do something with my Depression and unclog my mind. If I hadn’t already shown it, I have a lot of thoughts floating around daily to share. But, as with any first step, I was afraid. I would write for a while, hate it, and not write again for months. I felt it wasn’t worth telling my stories and opinions. I was just another voice screaming into the vast internet.
That was until my lovely pledge daughter, Faby, sent me a text message saying that she loved my Black & Depressed Pt. 1 post. She said really appreciated me sharing my story and would be awaiting my continuation. I was shocked. Somebody actually was reading my work and enjoyed it. I was stunned because my mind was in such a haze that I wasn’t even sure it came out as English. But, she read it and that’s what I needed to write again.
Next, one of my frat brothers Don retweeted one of my posts, Thoughts on Love & Value. I am pretty sure that was the highest number of views I’ve gotten in one day. He has the juice. I kept writing. Eventually, my best friend, Tony mentioned he gets emails about my posts and tries to read them as much as he could. Then, one of my neophytes in my fraternity referenced my post, asking me how it felt to feel that two-parent love from my aunt and uncle. I was blown away.
Every month since then, I’d have a friend say that they were inspired by my writing (Sherrie), felt real emotion (Olivia), or just enjoyed the thoughts I got flowing (Racquel). I even have a classmate (Taylor) that checks in with me after class and I feel special. My roommate (Jonathan) even surprised me with a little bit of motivation yesterday. There a plenty new readers that I want to hear their voices and learn more about them but only when you all are comfortable. Either way, thank you!
You all don’t know how much your words of encouragement here and there push me to type one more day and be a little more transparent. I hope my stories give you comfort knowing that you are not alone or help you think in a slightly new way. Please continue to support and allow me to continue baring my soul to you all. It has helped me way more than you will ever know. For this I say Thank You!!!
